WRIF is a commercial radio station in the United States. Its current format is Active Rock. This format is used by many commercial radio stations in the United States. WRIF is licensed to Detroit, Michigan and broadcasts at Metro Detroit area. Currently this radio station is owned by Greater Media, Inc. (Greater Boston Radio, Inc.) and is affiliated with United Stations Radio Networks. WRIF started broadcasting in 1948 as WXYZ-FM with simulcasting WXYZ-AM programming. As soon as they switched to separate programming they started experimenting with genres until they came to Active Rock.
