El primero de enero de 1994 y el 10 de mayo del mismo año, la XELAC y la radiodifusora estadounidense KLOQ, Radio Tigre, ubicada en Merced, California, se enlazaron radiofónicamente. El proyecto fue un éxito de comunicación ya que ese estado norteamericano es uno de los principales destinos de los migrantes michoacanos.
